Siena - Firenze: GimCharles in San Gymignano

The region of Tuscany is rich in history, agriculture, and architecture. The region is home to the famous leaning tower of Pisa, the ever popular Brunello wine, and the medieval town of San Gimignano.

The distance between Siena and Firenze isn't far at all, which made for a pretty relaxing ride. Here is the route:

The main reason for picking this route is because the bro formerly known as Omero recommended the ride from Firenze to Arezzo because it passes through the Area Naturale Protetta di Interesse Locale Foresta di Sant'Antonio‎, and we'll see in another post that it has some great roads to offer. So, I opted to start from Firenze the next day.

San Gimignano was called the City of One Hundred Towers because it was inhabited by wealthy families and in medieval times, wealth was expressed by building a tall tower. Today, only 14 towers remain standing, although, I don't think that there were ever 100 towers. Here some pictures:

The next leg of the trip is from Firenze to Citta di Castello, the birthplace of Monica Belucci.
